Training
Our super nanny training courses for nannies, domestic workers and childcarers.
We train from the Baby Clinics in Cape Town, Durbanville, Rondebosch and Constantia.
We offer a variety of childcare workshops from which the employers can choose to send their nanny or domestic worker on. We cover infant and child care, first aid/CPR, creative play, cooking, cleaning, laundry and ironing workshops. We have found that many parents, particularly mothers, decide to send their nannies on our workshops for the following reasons:
Our classes run in the morning or afternoon once a week for three hours. We have venues in Cape Town, Northern and the Southern Surburbs. We have structured the nanny training workshops in this manner as most working parents are unable to take off four consecutive working days to look after their child whilst their nanny is in training.
The classes are tailored so that the nannies have a chance to put into practice what they have learnt that week and time to complete their homework. We are in contact via email with the employers on a weekly basis during the nanny training workshops so that they have a clear understanding of what content we have covered.
We have a diverse group of nannies attending our workshops: Xhosa, Afrikaans, Malawian, Zimbabwean etc so our courses are taught in English to accommodate the entire group. The nannies are usually second language English speakers and the workshop is designed to be taught practically in an interesting, fun manner so our nannies can understand what is being covered.
One very important issue that our nanny training does cover is cultural assumptions made by both parents and nannies. This is often associated with cultural differences in upbringing and different home environments which can create discord to both parties involved. A common example of this cultural difference is that an African nanny believes that it is important to stop the hiccups in a young baby and an effective method to combat the hiccups is by sticking a piece of paper onto the baby’s forehead. We aim to inform our nannies with correct information that will enable them to do their jobs better and work in harmony with their employer.
Our nannies appreciate the knowledge and advice they receive from the workshop and in turn the moms see the results and are happy to share their approval with some great testimonials received.
