Nanny placements

Placements of nannies.

Super Nannies will happily advise you in the selection of a suitable candidate to care for your child. We will help you to assess your family’s needs and find the right candidate to fulfill those needs.

It is best to fill out our placement form so we can understand your priorities and preferences in choosing a nanny.

What is the difference between a  nanny, a domestic worker and childcarer?

  • A nanny’s primary focus is on child care, but she is also required to do housework.
Because she is multi tasking between a caring and cleaning role, employers must be realistic in their expectation of housework – light  vs heavy work. This is usually a full time role, 40-45 hours a week, depending on whether the position is live-in or live-out.
  • A domestic worker’s general responsibilities are to clean and tidy the house and it may also include laundry and ironing.
  • A childcarer deals exclusively with the children and she is not expected to do housework.

Many mothers do have a real concern regarding finding a nanny and her HIV status. Please read our FAQ’s on finding a good nanny, dealing with the HIV/Aids scenario and how to hand over the baby successfully to your nanny.

Expected salary range for live in and live outs:

R2500 – R3000 monthly or R130 – R150 daily. Transport costs may have to be added on top of the salary dependant on mode of transport and destination  Bus and train tickets are approximately R80 – R100 a month. Taxis are R5 per trip. If a nanny is using a bus and a taxi service to get to work, her transport costs can add up to about R300 per month.
Please read our Super Nanny Guide to get a better idea on working hrs, wages etc for live in and live out nannies.

Placement Services – Permanant and Temporary Placements

We screen all candidates, check references and interview them personally. This includes ensuring that they speak and understand English and that they have had experience caring for children. We insist on a trial period  – this is the real interview as testing of skills cannot be assessed in the initial 20 minute interview process.
We will try place trained candidates first. If the candidate is not trained, I am happy to include a 10% discount for our nanny training workshop should you choose one of our candidates and wish to train them.
Once a nanny is under trial, you may also contact the references yourself if you wish.

  • We will arrange for you to interview 1-3 candidates, or more if needed, in your own home, at your convenience.
  • We are happy to advise you on all aspects of the process, e.g. deciding what your needs are, interview questions etc
  • We ask that candidates traveling by public transport, to be reimbursed for their traveling expenses with R20.  We suggest a trial period of 1 to 2 days to see how the candidate integrates with your family and how you relate to each other.
  • Should you wish to hire the candidate, we do encourage YOU the employer to send and pay for a police clearance for your new nanny. We also encourage that you send her for a TB test. Police clearances are only available to our local nannies.
  • We can come to your house to facilitate the signing of a contract between you and the employee. I can also provide you with UIF forms. Please read through our FAQ – UIF to understand this process.
  • We offer an ongoing mediation and support service to help maintain a positive working relationship.
  • We guarantee that during a three month replacement period, should you or the chosen candidate decide to terminate your employment relationship, we will replace her  free of charge.
  • Please read our fees and conditions regarding details on our payment and placement process. This is important so you understand what we can and can’t do regarding our services.

Should you wish to further educate and empower your nanny or domestic worker, we also offer various nanny training courses. We do offer a 10% discount should you wish to train one of our placed candidates. Sign up here to super train your nanny!
